JONATHAN GORDON
President, J Gordon and Associates
 

Retired as Deputy Chief in 2001 after 28 years with Atlanta Police Dept, during which he served in a variety of law enforcement and high technology management positions.  As Deputy Chief, he commanded the Department’s Technical Services Division, comprised of the following subordinate commands: Computer Services, Communications, Central Records, Identification (Crime Scene Investigations, Criminal Histories, and Forensic Services), and Crime Analysis.  Mr. Gordon also served as the Atlanta Police Department’s lead planner for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics.
 
Mr. Gordon has lectured and conducted training on the effective use of technology to support public safety preparations and operations for:  The International Association of Chiefs of Police, The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, The British Ministry of Defense, The Israel National Police, and Olympic security forces associated with Barcelona, Spain (1992), Lillehammer, Norway (1994), Sydney, Australia (2000), Athens, Greece (2004), and Italy (2006)

GLENN McGONNIGLE
President and CEO, VistaScape Security Systems

McGonnigle is responsible for the overall strategic direction, growth and leadership of VistaScape. He joined VistaScape full time in February 2003 having previously served on its strategic advisory board.

Prior to joining VistaScape, McGonnigle was a co-founder of Atlanta-based Internet Security Systems and held senior management positions there for seven years. He brings 19 years of experience in all aspects of the software and information technology industry. Previously, he  was president and co-founder of Data Integrity Services Corporation, an early stage provider of WAN-based data management services.  Throughout his career, McGonnigle has remained focused on emerging technologies and has held a variety of sales and marketing management positions at EMC Corporation, Epoch Systems, Borland International, and Wang Laboratories. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia and was most recently Entrepreneur in Residence at the State of Georgia's Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC).


WILLIAM C. KERSTANN

Mr. Kerstann received his Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri and completed a year of graduate study at the National War College at Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, DC.  Mr. Kerstann has 32 years of law enforcement experience including 29 years as a special agent with the United States Justice Department, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).  He was assigned to a wide variety of positions in several different cities throughout the United States and retired from federal service after serving five years as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta Field Division of DEA.

Mr. Kerstann continued his involvement in Law Enforcement related programs after retirement as a Law Enforcement Consultant for the A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service; the Director of the Georgia Regional Community Policing Institute; and immediately before returning to the Atlanta area, the Director of the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area headquartered in London, Kentucky.  During his career, Mr. Kerstann has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at Indiana University and Kennesaw State University and has been an instructor at several state law enforcement academies and at the DEA/FBI academy at Quantico, Virginia.

Mr. Kerstann is a member of several professional associations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Atlanta Metropol, and the Association of Former Federal Narcotic Agents.  Mr. Kerstann has been married to his wife Margaret for 40 years and they have two sons, both of whom are married.


RON PEARL
Chairman & CEO, Esentris

Ron Pearl is the head of Esentris, a privately held, Atlanta-based provider of services supporting homeland security and other essential innovation initiatives.
A successful entrepreneur, technologist and community leader, Mr. Pearl has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Public sector experience includes military research, productivity improvement, and homeland security activities. Private sector experience spans manufacturing, telecommunications, broadcasting, wireless data, and systems integration. Mr. Pearl previously served as Chief Technical Officer for two startups in the wireless telecommunications industry, where he directed the development of Internet gateway systems for international wireless carriers. He has also held positions with the IBM Corporation, Scientific-Atlanta, and the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

Ron is also the Satellite Programs Chair for the MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta, and he is active with the Georgia Electronic Commerce Association, serving on its Homeland Security Working Group and its Wireless Working Group. He has provided leadership with numerous national and international standards bodies in establishing electronic commerce and wireless communications standards.


WALTER TONG
Senior Information Security Advisor
Georgia Technology Authority, Georgia Office of Homeland Security

Walter’s security experience is derived from 24 years in the military where he has held positions of responsibility at various high levels of command in communications, intelligence and counterintelligence.  His most significant achievement during Desert Storm was to direct the countersignals intelligence program for the Army theater of operations.  He has also developed and implemented IT security policies and programs at each of his active duty assignments in addition to other security responsibilities associated with his job positions.

Currently, he is with the Georgia Technology Authority, Office of Information Security, Senior Information Security Advisor where he has greatly contributed to the security of the State’s IT infrastructure.  He has participated in the development of the state Enterprise Security Policy, assisted in the development of an enterprise security program; specifically, in the areas of privilege management infrastructure, and training.  His most current project has been to guide GTA’s effort in the development of Data Security standards.  This project involved state agencies meeting to develop standards for the storage, transmission and authentication of the state’s data.  These standards are being prepared for final review before acceptance. 

Walter is also serving as the GTA representative to the State’s Homeland Security Task Force and original member of the State Cybercrime Task Force. His responsibilities are to keep organizations informed of threats to the state IT infrastructure and to conduct planning in support of security operations.
