TRENDS AND CHALLENGES IN GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SOLUTIONS FOR RISK MANAGEMENT
How should attend this session and why?

Executive decision makers in business and government interested in learning about latest achievements and challenges of geospatial technology for risk management.

Risk is inherent in virtually everything. Every business activity, every opportunity and every change in the external environment and internally within the business bears some degree of uncertainty; and all these activities, opportunities, and uncertainties are to some degree location dependent.

Moderator's Questions to the Panel:

We live in a fast-paced world when it comes to the management of risks of all types, includiing financial, physical and digital security, health/safety, environmental, and geohazards.

1. If we consider 'risk' in a lifecycle management perspective, what are some current and innovative uses of geodata and technologies in support of the various lifecycle scenarios?

2  Let's discuss the role(s) and effectiveness of GIS in the risk management lifecycles.  How would you rate the relative value (1=low and 10=high) of GIS as it is used today within the entire lifecycle process, and why?

3. What are the opportunities for increased 'value-add' by geotechnologies in the various risk management lifecycle scenarios?

4  What are the impediments or challenges to realizing those increased benefits on a more consistent basis?
