BENJAMIN TAUBE                 

Ben Taube is currently serving as the Environmental Manager for the City of Atlanta with the responsibilities of developing and enhancing environmental initiatives and policy.  Current programs include a green building policy development task force, energy management and conservation program, an urban heat island mitigation pilot project, and many other water quality projects.   In addition, he is heading the Bureau of Stormwater Management with the goal of producing a comprehensive stormwater management program and utility.  Prior to the City of Atlanta, Mr. Taube worked as an environmental planner and policy analyst.  

Mr. Taube has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Memphis and a Masters in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver.

MICHAEL E. CHANG

Dr. Michael E. Chang is a senior research scientist in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech. His research focuses on urban and regional air pollution and the development of effective and efficient strategies to mitigate it. Dr. Chang is also the director of the Center for Urban and Regional Ecology (CURE), a multi-disciplinary, multi-university center committed to research, education, and service that explores and promotes options for sustainable human health and prosperity while improving the environment at the scale of urban and regional ecosystems.

In the past, Dr. Chang was an air quality modeler and the coordinator of the Office of Scientific Development at the Georgia Environmental Protection Division; and prior to that, he was an aerospace engineer at the McDonnell Douglas Corporation (now Boeing). He holds degrees in atmospheric chemistry (MS, Ph.D.), environmental policy (MS), and aerospace engineering (BAE) all from Georgia Tech. He lives in Peachtree City, GA with his wife and two children

JOE FRANCICA
Editor-in-Chief and General Manager of Directions Magazine

Joe Francica is also the principal of Geodezix Consulting, a company providing location-based business intelligence and strategy for corporations needing market research and geospatial application solutions. He was the past editor of Business Geographics Magazine and a regular columnist for GEOWorld Magazine from 1991 until 2001. He has published over 100 articles on topics from market research, retail trade area analysis, and the use of geographic information system (GIS) technology for business applications. Mr. Francica is a co-founder and current CEO of GISbid.com, a project marketplace for posting and bidding on spatial information technology opportunities. Mr. Francica received his Bachelors from Rutgers University, a Master's from Dartmouth College, and an MBA from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.


CAROL PIERANNUNZI
Director of A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service Kennesaw State University, Professor of Political Science and International Affairs

Carol received a Ph. D. in 1989 from the University of Georgia with specialization in research methodology, public administration and urban affairs. She is the coauthor of two books Politics in Georgia and Building Civic Capacity: The Politics of Reforming Urban Schools. Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Politics, Urban Affairs Review and PS: Political Science and Politics among others. She is also the author of several book chapters and numerous government reports. Dr. Pierannunzi began her career at Kennesaw State as Assistant Director of the Burruss Institute in 1989. She has been teaching at Kennesaw State University since 1990 and has held various teaching positions at Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, and Berry College. She has also been a consultant for numerous studies of employees in government agencies, nonprofit organizations and private industry. Her research focuses on public policy, public opinion and urban administration.
